Resource & Information Centre

Beaumond House Community Hospice is yet again furthering its mission of ‘Local help for local people’ by opening an innovative, town-centre-based resource and information centre in Newark for patients with cancer and life limiting illnesses, their carers and families.

The Stodman Street location was chosen after research showed there was no current provision in the area for members of the public to ‘drop in’ and obtain specialist advice and appropriate resources/ information regarding cancer and life limiting illnesses.

The aim is to coordinate provision and support for patients, families and carers in a ‘one-stop shop’ environment that is relaxed and informal. The services that will be available as the centre evolves include:

- Advice and information for patients, relatives & family members
- Carer support
- Disease management and symptom relief
- Equipment loans
- Benefits & welfare rights
- Support groups
- Bereavement support & counselling

Funding for the Resource & Information Centre was provided by both a £107,000 capital grant from the Department of Health and a supportive grant from Macmillan Cancer Support, enabling Beaumond House to meet the demand - due to the generous grants that we have received we have not had to use any charitable funds to date to achieve this new venture.

Patients, relatives, carers and family members are invited to drop in without an appointment at any time between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Friday.
