Short Term Respite Care
Respite care operates on a short term basis, usually from 1 to 2 weeks. We have four spacious bedrooms, three of which have en-suite facilities.
They all have the essentials to make each stay as comfortable as possible, including specialised equipment, mattresses and beds. Patients each have a personalised care plan. Treatment and care is provided by our highly trained health care professionals who are supported by the patient's GP, Primary Care Team and their families and carers. Respite care is intended to benefit both the patient and the carer.

Day care, Monday through to Friday
Our day care provided therapeutic/social support in a homely and comfortable surrounding, optimising respite for carers. Patients are cared for by a team that includes specially trained health care professional, a dedicated day care co-ordinator, a welfare rights officer, a chaplain, and volunteer helpers including drivers who transport patients to and from the hospice.
Day care has easy wheelchair access and facilities for hairdressing and bathing are available for most patients. Patients can participate in a range of activities e.g craft, beauty treatments, hand and foot massage, art therapy, day trips, themed days etc

Care in the Community
Beaumond House provides a supportive palliative care service to people living in their own homes. The team work with GPs and the Primary Health Care Team to provide care for patients in their own homes. Their aim is to provide patients and their families with the expertise and support necessary to allow them to maintain as good a quality of life as is possible.
Care in the community can be arranged for those patients who wish to remain at home in their own familiar surroundings. This can be to help the family during the night or to give the carer a break during the daytime.

Equipment Loans
We run a busy equipment loans service which acts as a stop gap for items that are needed urgently and are generally acquired through the Health Service. We have commodes, wheelchairs, backrests and much more. We also loan out electrically operated riser/recliner chairs on a long term loan basis and these are particularly useful for someone who has difficulty getting up from an ordinary sofa or chair.

Complementary Therapies
The complementary therapy team comprises a contracted therapist and qualified volunteer therapists. The team provides complimentary therapies to patients (daycare, respite and occasionally in the community) as well as carers and relatives.
Massage, (including lymphatic drainage) aromatherapy, reiki and meditation are currently offered to encourage relaxation, provide relief from pain, anxiety, depression, breathlesness, nausea, stress and other symptoms, as well as promote sleep and for support.
