Dragon Boat Festival 2021
Sunday 19th September 2021 - Riverside Park, Newark
We are delighted to announce that after such a difficult 2020 and the disappointment of cancelling so many events and fundraising opportunities, that the Newark Dragon Boat Festival is back for 2021!
Dragon boat racing is the fastest growing water activity in Britain today – as well as the most fun! Up to 10 people paddle each 30’ boat with a drummer at the front beating time. The race takes part over one day and each team will take part in a minimum of 3 races before the fastest team goes through to the semi-final.
How does it work?
The race takes part over one day and each team will take part in a minimum of 3 races before the fastest team goes through to the semi-final. The boat and life jackets are provided; all you need to do is recruit a team! Each boat needs 10 paddlers and a drummer to keep the rhythm, however you can also bring up to 4 reserves if you wish.
Who can enter?
Anyone. Whether you are a group of friends, a sports club or entering through a company, this will be a great day out for you. All we ask is that you are over 16 (16 and 17-year olds will need written permission from a parent/guardian) and that you are able to swim 50 metres.
As well as the main action taking place on the river there will be refreshments and a range of activities available throughout the day for the whole family. Please do encourage spectators - all welcome.
