Shop Stock Transporter Role description

We are looking for a team of volunteers to transport stock between the Beaumond House shops, and where possible, to take unwanted items to the local household re-cycling centre.

Skills required:

  • That you are an experienced driver.

  • It would be an advantage to have your own vehicle and fully comprehensive insurance, but not necessary.

  • It is likely that a transit van will be the most common vehicle provided so previous experience of driving vans is preferable.

  • A full, clean driving licence

A DBS check may be required for this role.

Could you help on our Reception?

Weekend Reception Role Description:

To ensure the smooth running of our services at the weekend.

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Maintain the Beaumond House code of confidentiality at all times.
• Treat all visitors, patients, their relatives and their carers in a sensitive, polite and caring manner.
• Welcoming visitors to the hospice.
• Answering the telephone.
• Liaising with the nursing staff to ensure messages are passed on in an appropriate and timely fashion.
• Receiving donations from members of the public.
• Sale of goods.
• Report any potential health and safety hazards within the premises or grounds to a member of staff immediately on discovery.
• Help to maintain a safe environment, reporting any obvious risk areas immediately to any member of staff.
• Attend induction training, annual mandatory training and any other appropriate and recommended training.
• In all actions undertaken, have regard for the hospice reputation.

Skills Required

• A good manner when talking to people. Being friendly and approachable is essential.
• A good understanding of the importance of confidentiality and a respect for other people's privacy.
• The ability to take accurate notes and attention to detail is paramount.
• The ability to work as part of a team and a respect for all other individuals.
• Flexibility and an ability to build a rapport with others and a friendly and sensitive approach.
• Reliability and punctuality is important as well as a willingness to undertake any relevant training.
• Commitment and reliability, patience and empathy.

Here at Beaumond House we are committed to providing training and development opportunities to our volunteers. All new recruits receive a general introduction to the Hospice as well as a personal induction to your role. Additionally, we can arrange any further training courses that you may need, tailored to each individual volunteer role.

Could you collect our blue tins for us?

We are looking for flexible volunteers to help with the distribution and collection of our Blue Collecting tins from local shops, pubs and other various locations within the local area.

This is a regular role, but all timings are flexible to suit the individual.

 

Skills needed:

  • A full driving licence with use of own car would be an advantage, but not necessary as many venues are local.

  • Good knowledge of the local area and good organisational and planning skills

  • Honesty, flexibility, reliability and adaptability

  • Good communication skills

Could you work in one of our shops?

Role Description:

At Beaumond House, our retail volunteers are involved in all aspect of the shops, from sorting donations to taking payment at the till. We welcome new volunteers whether you want to grow in confidence and add to your CV, or bring a great deal of retail experience with you. Volunteers need to be friendly, patient and have a commitment to providing a good quality service to our customers.

Volunteers in this role either volunteer for a regular slot each week, or help out on a more ‘as and when needed’ basis.

Skills needed:

You should have the ability to work as part of a team and get on with other volunteers, staff and customers in the shop.

Good communication and listening skills.
Reliability and punctuality is important as well as a willingness to undertake any relevant training.

We have opportunities at both our Newark and Southwell shops.

Could you help with patient care?

Role Description:

Here at Beaumond House, our Day Care Volunteers are an essential and valued part of our team. They work alongside our experienced health care professionals and contribute to the individualised patient care that we provide. There is a real team spirit here at Beaumond House.

Duties include greeting patients and helping them to settle in for the day, make and serve drinks and refreshments, serve and clear away after lunch, listening to and chatting with patients as well as helping to deliver activities and entertainment by working with staff members,. 

Volunteers in this role either commit to a regular half day per week or join the bank to be called upon on an ‘as and when needed’ basis.

Skills needed:

Committed and reliable, patient and empathetic.
A good understanding of the importance of confidentiality and a respect for other people's privacy.

The ability to work as part of a team and a respect for all other individuals.
Flexibility, excellent listening skills and an ability to build a rapport with others and a friendly and sensitive approach.
Reliability and punctuality is important as well as a willingness to undertake any relevant training.

An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role 

Could you be a volunteer driver?

Role Description:

Patients attending Beaumond House for Day Care are often brought in and taken home by volunteer drivers. This is an invaluable service for our patients, removing any anxiety about travel arrangements.

We are looking for friendly, courteous and reliable people to join us as Volunteer Drivers.

We are looking for drivers who can commit to a regular day per week as well those who would prefer to be called on an ‘as and when needed’ basis.

A mileage allowance is paid to drivers.

Skills needed:

You should be sensitive to the individual needs of patients. 
Good communication skills, caring, friendly and reliable.
Full, clean driving licence, own car and fully comprehensive insurance essential.

Reliability and punctuality is important as well as a willingness to undertake any relevant training.

Other information:

Please note that an Enhanced DBS clearance will be carried out for this role. 

Could you help us fundraise?

Role Description:

We are always looking for new volunteers to expand our team of fundraisers. Being a fundraiser isn’t just about standing in the street with a collecting bucket. Duties in this role can include helping at events, manning a stall, bag-packing, helping with tasks in the fundraising office during busy periods and in the run up to events or just raising our profile. There is no minimum commitment and whenever possible, timings are flexible to suit the individual volunteer.

None! Just a desire to get involved and help out as and when you can.
