"I wouldn't hesitate in doing something again to support Beaumond House"

In June 2020, Ben Walker very kindly (and bravely!) embarked on a huge fundraising challenge to raise money for Beaumond House. Ben decided walk 10 miles a day for 5 consecutive days, carrying 25kg on his back - this turned out to be during the heatwave in June and he raised an amazing £4060!

Here Ben says why he decided to support Beaumond House.

"Well I decided to do the fundraiser whilst doing a tab just for fitness reasons and it hit me that sooner or later the COVID 19 pandemic would be over and how the community/economy is going to struggle for so long, whilst thinking and talking to some close friends, Beaumond House cropped up and I did some research as to how little help you guys get. So whilst I had no work etc, I thought I would devote my time and efforts to raising some money for something that Newark should cherish and; you all should get more support from local PMs and government.

So with that, I decided to set the challenge and wasn't going to back off due to weather. I also started a new full time job and was on my feet all day apart from the Friday, when they kindly let me rest up ready for the last two days. The support from near and far has just been tremendous and I’m blown away by the response from people. I wouldn’t blink an eye at doing something again in the near future to help raise more money and awareness of what a fantastic place and staff Beaumond House is all about".

We're so grateful to Ben for his fantastic support.
