There is still time to sign up to the Beaumond House Starlight Stride; a 10k memorial walk through Newark on Saturday 25th June for families and friends who have lost a loved one. The route for the event has now been fully confirmed.
Melissa Gaffney, Beaumond House Fundraising Events Manager says,
“We’re really excited by the event and the route reflects the character and heart of Newark. When we tested our route, we loved how much the historic aesthetic of Newark stood out against a striking sunset. The evening glow of Newark creates a wonderful atmosphere that we hope our walkers will love”.
The walk is being kindly hosted by the Newark Rugby Club, where the route will start. It goes through the historic town centre, taking in the castle and Beaumond House where walkers will be invited to take a moment to remember loved ones. It ends at the rugby club where finishers will receive goodies and hot drinks.
Jayne Wright, who is taking part in the walk says,
“I am taking part in this sponsored walk in memory of my lovely Mum Sheila Bullimore who was so lovingly cared for at the hospice before she sadly passed away from terminal cancer in 2013. I also volunteer at the hospice in day therapy and have witnessed what an amazing place it is”.
The walk is open to anyone over the age of 16 (under 18s need to be accompanied by an adult).
Entry is £15 per person and the hospice ask that all participants raise a minimum of £50 sponsorship. If you would like to book a group of 10 or more, please contact Melissa at fundraising@beaumondhouse.co.uk.
Registration will be open between 6:30-7:30pm and the walk starts at 8pm.
