The hospice has two new electric vehicles to provide palliative care to people living in their own homes
(Press release)
Newark-based hospice charity, Beaumond House Hospice Care, has grown the sustainability and capability of its Hospice at Home service with the addition of two new electric vehicles.
The Peugeot 208 vehicles will be used by the Beaumond House team to travel to patients’ homes, providing vital end-of-life care during the day and overnight in an environment that is familiar and comfortable for them.
The cars have been purchased at a discounted rate from Pratt and Gelsthorpe Peugeot in Newark - long term supporters of Beaumond House. As well as providing the cars at a discounted price, the dealership has also committed to continue servicing and maintaining the cars free of charge.
Louise Sinclair, Chief Executive Officer at Beaumond House Hospice Care, said:
“We’re very excited to have two new electric vehicles for our Hospice at Home team - not only will this improve our ability to provide palliative care in the community, but it will also help to make our service more sustainable.
“Giving patients dignity and independence when every moment matters is so important, and we do everything we can to support those who have a wish to die at home. Not only do we help with personal care, but our team also provides emotional support and advice for patients and their families.
“We’re incredibly grateful to Pratt and Gelsthorpe for their ongoing support of Beaumond House. These two new vehicles will make such a difference to us as we continue to support our community across Newark and Sherwood to live well and die well.”
Richard Gelsthorpe, Managing Director at Pratt and Gelsthorpe Peugeot, said:
“We have been very proud to support Beaumond House over the years and would like to thank them for the purchase of the two electric Peugeot 208s. Being mainly for local use, electric cars will be ideal and should significantly reduce their running costs in terms of electricity to fuel cost. Ongoing maintenance won’t be a worry either, with us being just around the corner to provide this free of charge.
“It’s vital that us and other local businesses maintain our involvement with Beaumond House, to help them continue the amazing work they do.”
