Christmas at Beaumond House - Creating Moments That Matter

ree

Christmas at Beaumond House is a time filled with warmth, tradition and gentle joy. Our hospice is a truly special place - a place of peace, love and laughter, where families can be together, often during the most precious moments of their lives. Here, care doesn’t pause for the festive season. It continues, day and night, with compassion at its heart.

For many families, Christmas at the hospice may be the last they spend together, and we do everything we can to make it meaningful. The building glows with twinkling lights, trees and decorations, even in the patient rooms, spreading comfort and festive cheer. Many of these decorations have been lovingly handmade by patients, volunteers and visitors over the years, making them treasures filled with memory and meaning.

In Day Therapy, the season comes alive with wreath-making, quizzes, baubles, Christingle oranges and more. One of the favourite activities is mince-pie making. Around the table, patients share stories of Christmases gone by, especially cherished moments with children and grandchildren. These conversations fill the room with warmth and gentle nostalgia.

Music drifts through the hospice as school choirs and carol singers visit, bringing joy to everyone. Local churches stop by too, and of course, Santa always makes an appearance, offering gifts, smiles and the simple gift of time together.

Christmas party week brings its own sparkle, with festive jumpers, bright outfits and the occasional fancy-dress costume. Our catering team serves traditional Christmas dinner, biscuits, mulled wine and homemade cake - small indulgences that feel like a warm hug. It’s a treasured moment to celebrate together and raise a quiet toast to those no longer with us.

For patients supported by our hospice-at-home team, we deliver Christmas cake and mince pies, and for those living alone, a Christmas dinner and a visit on Christmas Day. No one should feel forgotten at this time of year.

We do all we can to create lasting memories for patients and families, knowing how important each moment can be. Christmas is also a time when our staff and volunteers pause to reflect - on the joys, the challenges, the memories and the losses of the past year. We hold in our hearts all those we have cared for and all those we continue to support.

Our hope is that the care, kindness and comfort offered by everyone at Beaumond House helps you through the difficult moments and allows you to find light, love and peace this Christmas.
