Luke joined Beaumond House Hospice Care as a Kitchen Assistant Volunteer earlier this year, giving his time one afternoon a week to support our busy kitchen team.
His tasks have ranged from washing pots and keeping the kitchen sparkling clean to preparing vegetables and even baking cakes. With his catering qualifications and skills, Luke has been a real asset to the team.
Luke first came to us through his Stand Guide Advisor, who felt Beaumond House would be the perfect place for him to use his talents while gaining confidence and experience to help him back into the workplace.
Reflecting on his time with us, Luke said:
“I have really enjoyed my time volunteering at Beaumond House. It has given me the opportunity to refresh my kitchen knowledge and learn
some new skills too.
Over the months I have become more confident, both in my volunteer role and in myself. So much so, I applied for a job in a kitchen in a local school, and I got it! I started in September. I don’t think I would have achieved this without my experience volunteering at Beaumond House.”
While we were sad to say goodbye to Luke as a kitchen volunteer, we are absolutely delighted to see him moving on to this exciting new role.
We wish him every success in his school kitchen career and look forward to keeping in touch.
