We asked Jo-anne Wilson, our Catering & Housekeeping Manager, what difference volunteers made to her work:

As a catering team, having volunteers makes all the difference: with our volunteers’ help we can provide fresh, home-made meals for patients; without volunteers we would have to be buying our food in pre-prepared.

It’s good to bounce ideas off our volunteers. They bring creativity and ideas and that energies us. The passion for Beaumond House that our volunteers bring and the many reasons they have for supporting our work really feeds our staff.

Having volunteers with first hand experience of how the hospice works is an invaluable and crucial contribution to our work.

What would Jo say to someone considering volunteering with Beaumond House for the first time?

Do it.  Absolutely. Choose your role wisely to suit what you have to offer and get involved in the life of your local hospice.
