HOW CAN SCHOOLS SUPPORT THE BE BRIGHT BLUE CAMPAIGN?

Be Bright Blue is Beaumond House Hospice Care’s campaign to explain how someone may feel very isolated when they have been told that they are extremely unwell, but also, that people can feel deeply lonely at any time.

Loneliness has a habit of causing people to stop doing what they enjoy, leading to prolonged sadness. We have chosen this theme because it’s universal and it’s important that local people know that we’re here to help.

Here are some of the ways your school can get involved:

  • Our nurses would be delighted to visit to talk about what is important to your school. They can speak to a whole assembly, a year group or single class.

  • Sunshine Bear needs a new T-shirt. He’d be thrilled if your pupils would create a design he could wear in this fun competition. He’ll be making a personal appearance at your school.

  • Our ‘pocket hugsare available on a card to give to a family member, friend or neighbour who they feel would be greatly cheered by such a happy message.

  • ‘Wear it Blue’ day, whether it’s a hairband, socks or a jumper and then to make a heart shape in the playground, photographed from above and published in the local press.
