During August we had additional measures in place to lower the risk of Covid-19 transmission in the hospice, during a time where Newark was experiencing an increased number in cases. As we have now been removed from the watch list and we have not had any positive cases of Covid-19 in our patient groups or staff team during this time, we are now able to offer increased face to face support.
In our in-patient unit we can now offer planned visiting for those patients who have completed the isolation requirements. We ask that all visitors wear personal protective equipment and continue to wear a face mask throughout their time in the hospice. Social distanced visiting in the garden and courtyard area can also be arranged.
The hospice at home team can increase some of the extended visits to help support patients and their carers in their own homes – day and night. Caring for people at home is so important in the last weeks of life to ensure people achieve their wishes to be where they want to be at that time.
Day therapy will reintroduce their doorstep deliveries of goodies and therapeutic activity packs. Our health care assistants and volunteers will be able to offer face to face support and advice. Remote support will continue using the phone and zoom.
Our bereavement support service will continue to be provided over the phone and this is available to the loved ones of those people we have cared for.
Thank you to everyone who supports the hospice in so many different ways, helping us to continue to provide care and support to those who need it either in Beaumond House or their own home.
If you or someone you know needs our support, please do call and speak to one of the team who will be happy to help and advise you. All our care is provided free of charge and is not means tested or affected by other care you may be receiving.
